☾Razzmatazz Vol.5 engages the curatorial process as a performative approach. It aims for a different method of working in terms of the curatorial context; there will be a fluid conversation between curators and artists that will stimulate a collective conception of interests, cross-feeding issues, theoretical concerns and positions.

☾Today’s power relations within art institutions have created hegemony, like - a furrow - between art, artists and curators. Razzmatazz Vol.5 is seeking to know the artists’ urgencies, to let us evoke a cultivated outgrowth; challenging the hierarchy between artists and curators in terms of conventional working methods. In this way we are reaching to a safe space, an allowing network and a platform for debate. The exhibition situates performers as curators. All 14 artists proposed a piece, providing their research, latest interests, influences and concerns.

☾The proposed work and research shaped 4 different groups, which will be the starting points of 4 separate -but intersecting- conversations for The Roundtable Discussion on Friday the 2nd of March 2018. All participating artist and curators take part for an exchange, joined by fellow artists, previous Razzmatazz participants, as well as the public.

☾The outcome of this transparent essence will become the thematic discourse of Razzmatazz Vol.5 Performance / Live Action on the 3rd of March 2018; where the public will be able to listen to the recorded discussion through headphones. The discussion becomes the collective curation. The event finalises with an Informal Brunch Crit on the 4th of March 2018, at a park, between artists and curators, as well as calling members of the public who are interested to get involved.

☾Following the event a publication will be published, including the Press Release Material and Information, but further including writings coming from the Round Table discussion, transcriptions, reviews and conclusions as well as photographs of the event documentation and performances. Written and edited by curators, artists and invited writers.

Poster and Documentation by Simone Scalioti

☾RAZZMATAZZ is a platform for artists coming from varied backgrounds and disciplines to perform live action relating to their own practice. It is a sequence of exhibitions/ happenings which take place in different locations twice a year, during October and March. Each sequel has its own subject matter, questions and manifestations, where through open call or invitation a collective of artists is created that reflect on the matter. The series was created in October 2015 by established German artist Dagmar I. Glausnitzer- Smith and emerging duo collective Panicattack, because of the urge to experiment and the lack of performance art platforms for young, up and coming artists.
